The Loggers THE LOGGERS is an observational–documentary series set in the awe-inspiring landscape of the forests surrounding Lake Rotoma, outside of Rotorua on New Zealand’s North Island. Legendary bushman Willie Newton has worked in the forest for 53 years and founded Newton Logging with a crew of just six. With steely humility, he has steered the company as it’s become a hugely successful business, employing over 60 people, across five massive land blocks. With wife Maxine alongside him, and children Glenda and Brett primed to take over the reins – this is the tale of a family dynasty like no other. It provides a birds-eye view of the hard-working crews at Newton Logging and lifts the lid on the humour, tension, and all-out skill required to make the cut, in Aotearoa’s third most dangerous profession. The forest is a unique workplace. The work is back-breaking and the deadlines cannot be missed. The crews rely as much on trust in each other, as they do on their own expertise… they’re a tight-knit bunch who work hard and play harder.
